Chemistry is the study of all materials around us and the interactions between them. Practically everything we use in our daily lives is as a result of chemistry, from painkillers, medication, electronic chips in every computer and electronic device, make-up, Pringles and shampoo; all made by chemical companies in Ireland and beyond. Indeed, Cork boasts a plant from the majority of top international pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Chemistry is offered at senior cycle in Coachford College, it is incorporated into science at junior cycle. The course is taught as a mixture of theory and practical work undertaken in our brand new chemistry laboratory that is equipped to the highest standards, including computerised analysis equipment to enhance the student's learning environment.
