There are over 150 students who play on teams ranging from the crack senior squad (with 9 current or former Cork minors) to the First year team. The Intermediate panel, Junior panel and second years complete the collection. Most players also represent the local clubs Aghabullogue, Inniscara, Dripsey, Éire Óg and Cloughduv. The school is fortunate to have coaches of the calibre of Conor Power and Lotty involved in preparing the girls for competitions in Munster and Cork Colleges competitions. Ms. Mary O'Driscoll was in charge of the camogie players for many a year and fondly recalls the great efforts of past pupils Nicola O'Leary (Éire Óg), Helena Moynihan (Aghabullogue), Marion Reck (Éire Óg), Aoife O'Leary (Aghabullogue), Caitríona Hogan (Inniscara) to name a few who represented their school with distinction. There is truth to the myth that the camogie players walk the corridors of Coachford College with an air of confidence, a swagger that belies their youthful insecurity but it is a well earned trait - most of these players train twice weekly and put in a marvellous effort to represent the black and red of their college.
Two students are also on the 2010 Munster Interprovincial team |
