Discipline

No Progress may be made in an undisciplined environment.

The College has a statutory duty to be efficient in meeting the educational needs of the community. Schools that permit a minority of pupils to undermine efficiency fail in this duty.

The sort of teacher appreciated by many pupils is one who can control the class, expects pupils to work hard, explains things briefly and clearly, gives plenty of practice and is prepared to help pupils individually. A spontaneous discipline is created when instruction and courses are suited to a child's needs and ability. Children are happier in and prefer an orderly workplace.

Indiscipline is checked by employing a range of sanctions. The most severe measure is dismissal of a pupil from the College. The Deputy Principal and the Year Head interviews all ill-behaved pupils and generally ensures that conduct is as it ought to be. A supportive attitude by parents enhances the effectiveness of the system.
