The aim of Religious Education at Coachford College is to put the students "...not only in touch but in communion, un intimacy, with Jesus Christ: only He can lead us to the love of the ather in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the Holy Trinity." (John Paul II, CATECHESI TRADENDAE). Accordingly, R.E. at Coachford College is based in both the classroom and in the Oratory. Over thir 5/6 years in school, students grow in understanding of the faith into which they have been baptised and confirmed. In addition, their relationship with Jesus Christ is nourished through various liturgies held in the school Oratory, including weekly Mass, the November Mass for the Holy Souls, The Christmas Carol Service and an annual Graduation Mass for Leaving Certificate students. Many students participate in the annual Trocaire fast, raising thousands of euro and demonstrating impressively the social dimension of our faith. The R.E. Dept. also sends two fifth year students on the annual Cloyne Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes to assist pilgrims. |
