What
is the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme?

The
LCVP can be described as a leaving cert. with a strong
vocational dimension. It provides students with the
opportunity to realise their potential for self-directed
learning, for innovation and for enterprise. It is an
enhanced leaving cert. |
What
do students study on the LCVP? |
The
core of the LCVP includes the following elements which
students must take: |
2 Leaving Cert subjects from one of the vocational subject
groupings (VSGs)
|
A Leaving cert continental language or vocational language
module
|
2 link modules on preparation for the world of work and
Enterprise Education
|
In
total, LCVP students must take at least 5 leaving cert
subjects. One of these subjects must be Irish. Most
students take 6 or 7 leaving cert. subjects plus the link
modules. |
How
are the Link Modules assessed?
|
The
assessment comprises 2 elements: |
1.
Written Examination in final year of leaving cert of 2.5
hours duration. This is worth 40% of the total marks and
contains 3 sections:

Section
A is audio visual presentation,
|
Section
B is Case study (received by student in advance)
|
Section
C is general questions (4 out of 6) |
2.
Portfolio of Coursework. This is assessed at the end of
the final year of leaving cert and is assembled over the
two years. This is worth 60 % of the marks and comprises:
Compulsory Core: C.V., Career investigation, Summary
Report, Enterprise/Action Plan. Optional, to pick 2 from:
Diary of Work Experience, Enterprise Report, Recorded
Interview/Presentation or Report "My own place".

points can be earned from LCVP?
|
Grades
awarded for the Link Modules are Distinction (80-100%),
Merit (65-79%) and Pass (50-64%) |
